Dr. Catherine McCarthy provides psychological therapies for traumatic stress responses, developmental trauma and neglect, attachment wounds, dissociation, voice hearing, paranoia, unusual beliefs, intergenerational and trans-generational trauma, collective and political violence and oppression, discrimination, complex grief, vicarious trauma, chronic pain, auto-immune and chronic health conditions, complex anxiety and depression, disordered eating, body image concerns, recent critical incident, prolonged adverse experiences and ongoing traumatic stress.

Dr. Catherine McCarthy is an EMDRAA and EMDRIA Consultant, EMDR Training Facilitator, Clinical Psychologist, and, PBA Approved Supervisor, who also provides supervision and EMDR consultation services.

Supervision and EMDR consultation to individual and groups, including registrars and other healthcare professionals who wish to build their skills working with complex trauma and recent, prolonged and ongoing traumatic stress through a reflective practice lens.

EMDR for Recent & Ongoing Trauma

EMDR for recent events, prolonged adverse experiences, and ongoing trauma. Dr. McCarthy provides Intensive (up to 3 hour reprocessing sessions) and standard 90 minute EMDR therapy sessions to individuals and groups.

Intensive EMDR for attachment wounds, developmental trauma and neglect, dissociation, collective, and, intergenerational trauma. Using a depathologising approach, treatment is tailored to clients unique needs.

Supporting Recovery Through a Human Rights Lens

Tailored, evidence-based therapies, EMDR consultation and supervision services to support individuals, groups, communities and clinicians in navigating and supporting recovery through a depathologising lens informed by the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) and a decolonising and liberation lens informed by the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) (Dudgeon et al. 2020; Gee et al. 2014) and Marya’s (2018) frameworks.
